Bank of Baroda Appoints Sachin Tendulkar as Global Brand Ambassador

Public sector lender Bank of Baroda (BoB) has appointed cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar as its global brand ambassador. The three-year partnership was announced ahead of the launch of the bank’s first campaign featuring Sachin, titled “Play the Masterstroke.” As part of this initiative, BoB has introduced the ‘bob Masterstroke Savings Account,’ tailored for clients seeking premium services.

In a statement, the bank revealed that Sachin, a Bharat Ratna awardee, will participate in all branding campaigns, consumer education initiatives on financial literacy and fraud prevention, as well as customer and employee engagement programs. This marks the second time BoB has enlisted a cricketer as a brand ambassador; in 2005, they appointed Rahul Dravid, who now serves as a brand ambassador for Shriram Finance Ltd.

Many banks have turned to sports personalities and film stars for brand endorsements. In October 2023, State Bank of India appointed former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni as its brand ambassador. Similarly, Utkarsh Small Finance Bank recently announced legendary boxer Mary Kom and celebrated footballer Sunil Chhetri as its brand ambassadors.

In 2021, AU Small Finance Bank selected popular actors Aamir Khan and Kiara Advani as their brand ambassadors. Currently, Bank of Baroda is also represented by badminton Olympian P.V. Sindhu, Indian cricketer Shafali Verma, and tennis player Sumit Nagal.
