Anantapur District Authorities Respond Swiftly to Flash Floods

Anantapur district officials acted promptly to minimize losses during flash floods caused by heavy rains in Karnataka and Sri Sathya Sai districts in Anantapur on October 16-17, reported District Collector Dr. V. Vinod Kumar. He explained that intense rainfall within three hours led to water from Pavagada, Kanaganapalle, and Raptadu flowing into the Pandameru River, flooding areas near the Bukkarayasamudram tank by early morning.

Upon receiving alerts from locals, authorities rescued 110 families and moved 375 people to three relief centers. The administration distributed around 2,000 food packets, 5,535 water packets, and essential supplies to affected families.

Dr. Vinod Kumar stated that 456.92 hectares of crops were damaged, with losses valued at ₹2.66 crore. Additionally, 40 katcha houses were damaged, and livestock losses included two cattle and 100 sheep. Financial aid will be directly credited to affected families on October 26, while
