Tirupati’s Midday Meal Scandal: Poor Food Quality Leaves 34 Students ill, Sparks Outrage

Tirupati District: Substandard Midday Meal Raises Concerns
In Tirupati district, the Dokka Seethamma Midday Meal Scheme is under fire after serving substandard food, leading to health issues among students. This incident highlights the negligence of the education department officials.

Students Fall Sick After Consuming Substandard Food
On Saturday, 34 girl students fell ill after consuming food provided under the midday meal scheme. Despite this alarming incident, authorities failed to take corrective measures, as the same substandard food was served again on Monday. This negligence has drawn sharp criticism from SFI leaders.

SFI’s Outrage
SFI leaders visited the local school to assess the situation. “It’s shameful that the MEO (Mandal Education Officer) hasn’t even bothered to inspect the school’s conditions,” remarked SFI District Vice President Teja. They demanded an immediate intervention by the DEO (District Education Officer) and Collector to conduct a special drive on the Dokka Seethamma Midday Meal Scheme and ensure that students receive nutritious and quality food.

Key Demands:

  • Strict enforcement of quality standards in the midday meal scheme.
  • Action against officials showing negligence towards student health.
  • Enhanced monitoring of schools to provide healthy and hygienic food.

Public Outcry Against Negligence
This incident has raised serious concerns about the education department’s approach to student welfare. Providing quality food is as important as imparting quality education, and the government’s primary responsibility is to ensure the well-being of students. Immediate steps are necessary to rectify this situation, as demanded by the public.
