Tirupati Tragedy: CM Chandrababu Criticizes TTD Chairman and EO for Lack of Coordination

Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh:
A high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu witnessed heated exchanges between Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman B.R. Naidu and Executive Officer (EO) Dharma Reddy. The two top officials blamed each other for the lapses leading to the tragic stampede during Vaikunta Ekadasi celebrations, which resulted in multiple casualties.

Key Developments from the Meeting

1. Heated Arguments Between TTD Officials
The TTD Chairman accused the EO of bypassing him in decision-making and failing to communicate key details. “The EO doesn’t consult me on any matter. He shows no respect for the Chairman’s position,” B.R. Naidu alleged in front of the Chief Minister.

Responding sharply, EO Dharma Reddy countered, “I have kept you informed about everything. These allegations are baseless.” The exchange escalated into a heated argument, much to the dismay of other attendees.

2. CM Chandrababu’s Intervention
Unimpressed by the public display of discord, CM Chandrababu Naidu reprimanded both officials. “Is this the way to handle such a critical situation? Where is your coordination? If I can work with the Chief Secretary and other officials in harmony, why can’t you? This lack of teamwork is unacceptable,” the Chief Minister stated firmly.

He urged both the Chairman and the EO to resolve their differences and work collaboratively for the betterment of the temple administration and the devotees.

3. Call for Accountability
The Chief Minister directed all officials to focus on addressing the lapses that led to the tragic incident. He emphasized the need for improved communication, planning, and execution to ensure the safety of pilgrims during major events.

4. Ministers Step In
Endowments Minister Anagani Satya Prasad and Home Minister Anitha also expressed their dissatisfaction with the lack of coordination among TTD’s top brass. “This is not the place to air personal grievances. Focus on resolving the issues and serving the devotees,” Minister Satya Prasad reportedly told the officials.

5. Assurance of Action
The Chief Minister assured that all operational and managerial flaws within TTD would be reviewed. He instructed the officials to submit detailed reports and work on rebuilding public trust in the administration.

Public Outcry Over Administrative Failures

The tragedy has sparked widespread criticism of the TTD’s administrative setup, with many calling for systemic reforms. Devotees and religious organizations have demanded that accountability be fixed at all levels to prevent such incidents in the future.

Conclusion

The Tirupati stampede has exposed serious flaws in the TTD’s internal coordination and crisis management. While the CM’s intervention may bring temporary relief, the incident underscores the need for structural reforms and better preparedness to handle large-scale events at one of India’s most revered religious destinations.
