Dharmavaram: Tensions flared in Dharmavaram on Sunday as clashes broke out between the TDP and BJP cadres, leading to the destruction of several vehicles.
According to reports, Dharmavaram MLA and BJP leader Satyakumar Yadav was set to welcome Krishnapuram Jameer, a minority leader from the YSRCP, into the BJP on Monday. However, TDP in-charge Paritala Sriram strongly opposed Jameer’s entry into the BJP.
Ahead of the joining ceremony, BJP cadres put up flex boards across Dharmavaram, announcing Jameer’s induction. TDP cadres, opposing the move, reportedly tore down the flex boards, leading to a heated argument between the two groups. The situation escalated into stone-pelting, causing significant damage.
During the clash, two Scorpio cars and three motorcycles were vandalized. Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
