The political landscape in Andhra Pradesh is heating up over the vacant Rajya Sabha seat. Following the resignation of YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy, the BJP high command is reportedly strategizing to field either megastar Chiranjeevi or former Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy for the position.

Looking at the current political equations in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, this Rajya Sabha seat is likely to go to one of the ruling coalition parties. The major discussion revolves around whether the TDP, Jana Sena, or BJP will get the opportunity. However, according to recent reports, the BJP is almost certain to secure the seat.
Chiranjeevi’s Growing Proximity to the BJP
Megastar Chiranjeevi, one of the biggest names in Telugu cinema, has been increasingly aligning himself with the BJP. During the recent elections, he actively supported BJP candidates. Notably, he released a video endorsing BJP candidate CM Ramesh for the Anakapalli MP seat and gave a special interview supporting Secunderabad MP candidate Kishan Reddy. His presence as a chief guest at the Sankranti celebrations in Delhi further intensified speculation that he might officially join the BJP soon.
Will BJP Send Kiran Kumar Reddy to the Rajya Sabha?
On the other hand, former Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is also in contention for the Rajya Sabha seat. In the last parliamentary elections, he contested from Rajampet on a BJP ticket but lost. At the time, there were strong speculations that he would have been given a ministerial berth if he had won. Now, with the Rajya Sabha seat available, BJP is reportedly considering him for the position to strengthen its presence in Andhra Pradesh.

If Chiranjeevi is sent to the Rajya Sabha, it will be a significant boost for the Jana Sena party. Meanwhile, Kiran Kumar Reddy’s experience as a former CM makes him a strong candidate for BJP.
