Power Struggle in Railway Kodur: Rupananda Reddy’s Dominance Sparks Rift in Alliance

Tensions Rise Among TDP, Janasena, and Community Leaders

In Andhra Pradesh’s Annamayya district, the Railway Kodur constituency is witnessing growing discontent within the TDP-Janasena alliance. Several leaders from the Kamma and Balija communities, along with TDP and Janasena party members, are frustrated with constituency in-charge and Kadapa Urban Development Authority (KUDA) Chairman Mukka Rupananda Reddy. They allege that Rupananda Reddy has sidelined them and is monopolizing government programs without their involvement.

Rupananda Reddy’s Political Maneuvering

Ahead of the 2024 elections, Mukka Rupananda Reddy quit YSRCP and joined the TDP. As part of the TDP-Janasena alliance, the Railway Kodur seat was allocated to Janasena. Leveraging his influence, Rupananda Reddy secured a Janasena ticket for his close associate, Arava Sridhar, and allegedly spent significantly on the election to ensure Sridhar’s victory.

This move created a rift within the party, as former constituency in-charge Kasturi Viswanathan Naidu was removed to make way for Rupananda Reddy. Tensions escalated further when former MLC and senior TDP leader Batyala Chengalrayulu, along with Janasena’s Balija leaders, found themselves completely sidelined from key decisions.

A Growing Rift in the Alliance

Following Jana Sena’s victory in Railway Kodur, Rupananda Reddy’s clout grew within the alliance, earning him the KUDA Chairman post. However, his increasing dominance has caused resentment among leaders who feel excluded from power.

On the other hand, Rupananda Reddy has accused alliance members of fueling negative coverage against him in TDP-aligned media. He has made it clear that he has no intention of reconciling with those opposing him.

As a result, the internal conflict within the TDP-Janasena alliance in Railway Kodur has intensified, raising questions about the future of unity in the region.
