🔴 Delhi Votes Today! Will AAP Make History or BJP Stage a Comeback? 🗳️🔥

Polling for the high-stakes Delhi Assembly elections has commenced, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) aiming for a third consecutive term, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress are striving for a revival.

Security and Polling Arrangements

Voting is underway at 13,766 polling stations across all 70 Assembly constituencies, deciding the fate of 699 candidates. The Election Commission has deployed:

  • 220 companies of paramilitary forces
  • 35,626 Delhi Police personnel
  • 19,000 home guards
  • Nearly 3,000 polling booths marked as sensitive, with special security arrangements including drone surveillance

Voter Concerns and Expectations

In East Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar, voters expressed concerns over water supply, drainage, and infrastructure.

  • Sushil Kumar (22) prioritized education, stating, “Only an educated youth can drive the country’s progress.”
  • Suman (36) praised AAP’s welfare schemes, highlighting free water, electricity, and school improvements. She also mentioned that local women believe they will receive ₹2,100 per month if AAP returns to power.

To aid voters, e-rickshaws have been arranged for senior citizens above 85 and differently-abled individuals. However, drivers noted low initial usage.

The Battle for Delhi

  • AAP is banking on its welfare schemes and governance model to secure another term.
  • BJP, out of power in Delhi for over 25 years, is making a determined push for a comeback.
  • Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 years until 2013, is looking to regain lost ground after drawing a blank in the last two elections.

Smooth Voting Process & Special Arrangements

  • 733 polling stations are designated for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
  • Queue Management System (QMS) app introduced to help voters check real-time crowd levels.
  • 6,980 out of 7,553 eligible voters under the home voting facility have already cast their ballots.

Polling will continue until 6 p.m., with results set to be announced on February 8, determining whether AAP retains its stronghold, BJP stages a breakthrough, or Congress makes a surprise comeback.
