The Andhra Pradesh Assembly is all set to begin its Budget Session on February 24, 2024, marking a key political event for the state. The session will open with an address by the Governor to both houses, and the proceedings are expected to run for around three weeks, potentially extending up to 20 days, including holidays.
One of the first key activities will be the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting on the opening day, where the number of days for the session will be finalized. Following this, the government is preparing to present the 2025-26 Budget on February 28.
Ahead of the sessions, the state government is organizing MLA orientation classes on February 22 and 23, providing new members with insights into the house rules, their roles, and expected decorum. The session will also feature discussions on various political, financial, and developmental matters in the state. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is expected to attend the awareness classes, although it remains uncertain whether he will be present in Amaravati or join virtually. Additionally, former Vice President of India, Venkaiah Naidu, is anticipated to participate in the orientation program.
Ministers have been instructed to prepare thoroughly to address questions about their respective departments during the session. With the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly session approaching, the focus will be on the government’s financial plans for the upcoming year, and how these discussions will shape state policies and welfare initiatives.
