Andhra Pradesh liquor consumers have been hit with yet another price hike. The Excise Department has decided to increase liquor prices by 15%, citing rising operational costs. This decision comes after the recent revision of liquor sales margins to 14.5%, making the price hike inevitable, according to officials.
Liquor Categorization and Exemptions
Going forward, liquor sales will be classified into three categories:
✔ Indian Made Liquor (IML)
✔ Foreign Liquor (FL)
✔ Beer
However, the government has clarified that ₹99 liquor and beer prices will remain unchanged despite the overall hike.
Series of Price Hikes in AP
The liquor price hike follows a pattern of back-to-back price increases imposed by the government in recent times. Consumers are already facing a financial burden due to:
✔ Electricity tariff hikes – Power bills saw a significant surge, affecting both households and industries.
✔ Registration charges increase – Land and property registration costs were revised, making transactions more expensive.
With yet another price hike, citizens are voicing concerns over the rising cost of living in Andhra Pradesh.
