Villagers of Satravada in Ekambarakuppam Mandal, Nagari constituency, Chittoor district, staged a massive protest against the illegal sand mining allegedly controlled by TDP leaders. The locals gathered in large numbers, raising slogans against the sand mafia and demanding immediate action from the authorities.
Villagers Express Anger Over Illegal Sand Mining
The villagers accused TDP leaders of illegally transporting sand from nearby areas, which has severely affected local farmers and the environment. They expressed concerns that groundwater levels are depleting due to excessive sand excavation, leading to future water scarcity in the region.
Despite multiple complaints, officials have failed to take action against the illegal activities, leading to frustration among the locals. “Why are the authorities silent when illegal sand mining is happening right under their noses?” questioned the villagers.
Authorities Criticized for Inaction
The protestors strongly condemned the inaction of officials, accusing them of siding with the TDP leaders. They warned that if the government fails to intervene immediately, they will intensify their protests in the coming days. The villagers demanded stringent action against illegal sand transportation and those involved in the sand mafia.
