📍 Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh – Addressing rising public concern over reports of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) cases in the state, Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar held a media briefing in Anantapur. He assured citizens that the state government is actively monitoring the situation and has taken proactive measures to mitigate any potential health risks.

What is Guillain-Barré Syndrome?

GBS is a rare autoimmune disorder where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the nerves, leading to symptoms that range from mild weakness to paralysis. In severe cases, the condition can be life-threatening. While the exact cause remains unknown, it is often triggered by viral or bacterial infections, including the flu and Campylobacter jejuni.

No Cause for Panic: Health Minister’s Assurances

🔹 Vaccine Procurement Initiated – Minister Satya Kumar announced that the government has ordered vaccines to address possible health risks associated with GBS. However, he did not specify which vaccines were being procured. Experts suggest they could be linked to infections known to trigger GBS.
