YS Jagan’s Visit to Guntur Mirchi Yard Politicized Under Government Pressure

Guntur: A routine visit by former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to meet farmers at the Guntur Mirchi Yard has turned into a political controversy due to alleged government pressure and unnecessary restrictions in the name of the election code.

Meeting Farmers – Why the Controversy?

YS Jagan’s visit to the Guntur Mirchi Yard was solely aimed at listening to farmers’ grievances and understanding their struggles. However, the government is reportedly trying to obstruct the visit by citing the election code, which has now become a hot topic in political circles.

YSR Congress Guntur district president Ambati Rambabu stated, “We have not fielded any candidate in these elections. We are not conducting any campaign. We are not even using a microphone. Despite this, the government is trying to create unnecessary controversy over YS Jagan’s visit.”

Does the Election Code Apply? Is the Government Deliberately Creating Hurdles?

Even though the election model code is in effect, YSR Congress leaders argue that it does not apply to Jagan’s visit as there is no political campaign or electoral significance to the event.

“As a former Chief Minister, it is natural for Jagan to meet farmers and hear their concerns. However, the government is blowing this out of proportion and exerting pressure on the police to create obstacles,” party leaders alleged.

Should Farmers’ Issues Be Ignored? – Jagan Questions

Currently, mirchi (chili) prices have dropped drastically, causing huge losses for farmers. Given this situation, is it wrong for a leader to meet farmers and hear their problems? YS Jagan questioned.

“There is no fair price for any crop under this government. During our tenure, even when the market price was low, the government ensured support for farmers. But today, who will farmers turn to?” Jagan asked.

Political Pressure Turning a Simple Visit into a Controversy

A simple visit to interact with farmers has now turned into an unnecessary political dispute, allegedly due to government interference. Political analysts question why the government is obstructing a non-political visit instead of addressing the real issues faced by farmers.
