TDP’s False Propaganda Exposed: Truth Behind Power Agreements

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) has approved the state’s power purchase from Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for the financial year 2025-26. This decision has debunked the allegations made by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) against the power agreements signed during the YSR Congress Party government’s tenure.

Reality Behind TDP’s Allegations

TDP, through its affiliated media, had claimed that the power agreements signed under the YSR Congress Party government placed a financial burden of ₹1 lakh crore on the state treasury. However, with APERC granting approval for these agreements, it is now clear that these accusations lacked any factual basis.

Cost-Effective Agreements Benefitting the State

The agreements with SECI ensure power procurement at lower costs without interstate transmission charges, leading to an estimated savings of ₹1.1 lakh crore for the state exchequer. Experts believe that this move will also help in providing affordable and reliable electricity to consumers in the future.

False Propaganda Exposed Before the Public

TDP’s attempt to misrepresent beneficial power agreements for political gain has raised questions about its credibility. Analysts state that misusing key power sector initiatives for propaganda purposes goes against democratic principles. With APERC’s approval, the truth has come to light—the SECI agreements, facilitated by YS Jagan’s government, were designed to provide low-cost power and ensure long-term benefits for the state.
