TDP-JSP’s Big Loss in North Andhra Teachers’ MLC Election: A Warning from Angry Teachers

The TDP-JSP alliance suffered a massive setback in the North Andhra Teachers’ MLC election. What makes this defeat even more significant is that YSRCP—the main opposition—didn’t even contest, yet the TDP-JSP-backed candidate lost miserably. This clearly signals the growing discontent among teachers. PRTU (Progressive Recognized Teachers Union) candidate Gade Srinivasulu Naidu defeated the NDA-backed sitting MLC Pakalapati Raghu Varma with a huge margin. This was not just a defeat—it was a loud and clear warning from the teachers.

Broken Promises, Broken Trust

The government made tall promises but failed to deliver, leading to this massive rejection by teachers. Some of the major reasons behind their anger include:

Surrendered Leave Payments Stopped – Teachers were not paid for their surrendered leave, which felt like a betrayal.
CFMS Pending BillsTeachers’ financial reimbursements were stuck in the CFMS system, causing severe inconvenience.
Pending DA (Dearness Allowance) – The government failed to clear DA arrears, adding to teachers’ financial burdens.
PRC Delay – The Pay Revision Commission (PRC) recommendations were not fully implemented, leaving salaries stagnant.

Teachers weren’t asking for luxuries—they only wanted what was promised. But instead of addressing their concerns, the government chose to ignore them, and this election result is the price they are paying.

More Politics, Less Governance

Rather than solving real issues, the government spent more time cracking down on critics than on improving education and teacher welfare.

📌 Instead of focusing on schools and teachers, the government focused on silencing critics by issuing legal notices and making arrests.

📌 Over 680 social media users received legal notices, and 49 individuals were arrested just for criticizing the government.

📌 This high-handed approach backfired, further fueling anger among teachers and other government employees.

Teachers didn’t just vote against broken promises—they also voted against a government more focused on controlling narratives than solving real problems.

A Clear Message for the Government

The message is loud and clear: people will no longer tolerate false promises. The government must act immediately to address the issues that led to this setback, including:

✔️ Clearing pending payments (DA, PRC arrears, CFMS bills)
✔️ Addressing teachers’ concerns instead of ignoring them
✔️ Focusing on governance rather than political vendettas

The North Andhra Teachers’ MLC election was just the beginning. If the government does not take corrective action, the coming elections could bring even worse results. It’s time to perform or perish.
