Centre’s Major Boost for Andhra Pradesh: ₹15,000 Crore Allocated for Key Projects and Infrastructure Development.

In a significant development, the Union Budget 2024-25 has earmarked a substantial ₹15,000 crore in special financial support for Andhra Pradesh. This funding aims to accelerate the state’s infrastructure development and address various developmental needs across multiple sectors.

The budget includes major grants for the Polavaram project, expediting the completion of crucial components like water supply, power generation, railways, and roads, thereby enhancing water management and infrastructure in the region.

Special attention will be given to developing backward areas in Andhra Pradesh to promote balanced regional development and reduce disparities by improving infrastructure and public services in underserved regions. The budget also allocates funds for the construction of an additional 3 crore houses statewide, aimed at improving housing availability and quality, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.

Funding will also support the development of the Vishakhapatnam-Chennai corridor, enhancing connectivity and economic activity between these two major cities, which will boost transportation and trade routes for better regional economic integration. Additionally, a new corridor will be developed between Hyderabad and Bengaluru, facilitating improved connectivity and supporting economic growth by enhancing access between these two major tech hubs.
