A shocking incident occurred at Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, where Dr. Ch. Changaiah, a Dalit professor and dean of the electrical engineering department, was allegedly assaulted by Bajrang Dal members. Known for his advocacy of Dalit rights and social justice, Dr. Changaiah became a target of aggression after an argument escalated into violence.
The attackers reportedly entered the campus and confronted the professor before physically assaulting him. Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to apprehend the accused.
BSP Protest for Justice
In response, BSP state secretary Somu Rambabu, alongside other leaders, staged a protest at the Collector’s office, condemning the attack. They alleged that the assault stemmed from the professor’s academic reputation and advocacy for marginalized communities. The leaders submitted a memorandum to Collector B.R. Ambedkar, urging swift action against the perpetrators.
