YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) launched a protest against the increase in electricity charges. In a special meeting held in Visakhapatnam, the Regional Coordinator of North Andhra, Vijay Sai Reddy, former Minister Gudivada Amarnath, Budi Muthyala Naidu, and other key leaders unveiled the protest poster.
Vijay Sai Reddy’s Comments:
- He announced that state-wide protests would be held on the 27th of this month against the increased electricity charges.
- Discussing the JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee) visits, he stated that YSRCP is committed to fighting for the people’s cause.
- “We are neutral and focused only on the state’s welfare,” he emphasized.
Gudivada Amarnath’s Views:
- He criticized the government for raising electricity charges after promising not to increase them before the elections.
- “From next month, the burden of an additional Rs. 1.50 per unit will be imposed on the public,” he added.
- He also mentioned, “In just six months, the government has incurred a debt of Rs. 75,000 crores, without spending a single penny on welfare schemes.”
YSRCP President YS Jagan has called for these protests, which will be held across the state.
