Guntur Medical College Incident: Minister Satyakumar Yadav Faces Tough Questions

Guntur: On Friday, Minister of Medical and Health, Satyakumar Yadav, faced a difficult situation during his visit to Guntur Medical College. Raghu Babu, a resident of Guntur Housing Board Colony, raised concerns regarding irregularities in the PG Medical Counseling process handled by NTR Health University.

Raghu Babu alleged that the counseling process was being conducted arbitrarily, leading to immense stress among medical students and their parents, even driving some to the brink of suicide. He expressed his anguish directly to the minister, criticizing the university’s lack of a transparent approach.

Pre-Closure of Free Exit Before All-India Counseling:

The university issued conflicting orders during successive counseling sessions. While the first round followed a particular order, the second round differed, and now the third round seems preplanned. Officials announced a free-exit option from Friday to Monday morning, even before the commencement of All-India Counseling.

Parents are worried that this move will lead to Andhra Pradesh PG medical students losing seats under the All-India quota. Allegations have also surfaced that the counseling process is biased towards benefiting management quota admissions, further intensifying the controversy.

Fee Hike Sparks Concern

The confusion deepened after the court annulled G.O. 56 following the first round of counseling, resulting in a significant fee hike. This has added to the financial and emotional burden of medical students and their families.
