Jammu & Kashmir: The Vande Bharat Express made its first journey across the world’s tallest railway bridge over the Chenab River, creating a breathtaking sight that has since gone viral on the internet.
The Chenab Railway Bridge, a marvel of modern engineering, witnessed this trial run earlier this week. The semi-high-speed train traveled from Katra to Srinagar, crossing the iconic bridge, showcasing a stunning blend of ancient craftsmanship and advanced rail technology.
Designed to withstand Kashmir’s harsh winter conditions, the Vande Bharat Express is equipped with state-of-the-art heating systems, ensuring passengers’ comfort and preventing freezing conditions inside the train. The trial run on this bridge was initially conducted successfully in June last year.
The Chenab Bridge, part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway project, is pivotal in connecting Kashmir to the rest of the country. Standing at an impressive height of 359 meters and stretching 1,315 meters in length, this bridge surpasses the 275-meter-high Shuibai Bridge over the Beipan River in China, setting a new global record.
The visuals of the train speeding across the majestic bridge have captured the imagination of millions, underlining the significant advancements in India’s rail infrastructure.
