A recent social audit at the Mulakalacheruvu Kasturibha Gandhi Gurukula School in Annamayya district has exposed alarming cases of exploitation, negligence, and mistreatment of students.
Harsh Treatment of Students
- Students reported being woken up at 4 AM and forced to make chapatis, a practice that raises serious concerns regarding the welfare and well-being of the students.
- During menstrual periods, when students requested sanitary napkins or diapers, they were told there was no trust and their concerns were dismissed. They were asked to provide proof for their requests, which further adds to the distressing treatment.
Financial Exploitation
- Complaints surfaced about the collection of Rs. 100 from students for head baths and an additional Rs. 1500 collected under the guise of tuition fees.
Poor Food and Threats of Penalization
- Students complained about the poor quality of food, including rice with pests and insufficient tiffins, which were not aligned with the menu.
- When students raised concerns, they were threatened with reduced marks.
Social Audit Authorities Step In
Upon discovering these grave violations, social audit officials took swift action to investigate the allegations. Parents and students are demanding immediate action from the government to ensure the safety and rights of the children.
