The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is facing internal turmoil, not just from political alliances but also from its own MLAs. A recent internal survey conducted by the party has revealed significant challenges posed by its legislators. Among the most controversial figures are Tiruvuru MLA Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao from Krishna district and Singanamala MLA Bandaru Shravan from Anantapur district.
Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao – Legal Troubles and Allegations
Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao has already appeared twice before the TDP disciplinary committee. Allegations of harassment against party workers and common citizens have led to internal inquiries. These issues have put the party in an awkward position within just seven months of coming to power.
Shortly after taking office as MLA, Kolikapudi allegedly demolished a private building in Konduru, disregarding police intervention. He also ordered the demolition of the local MPP building, citing road encroachment. Following these incidents, cases were filed against him.
The situation worsened when a woman attempted suicide, reportedly fearing Kolikapudi’s actions. Another individual, allegedly harassed by the MLA, also tried to end his life. More recently, a TDP worker named David attempted suicide, citing harassment by Kolikapudi. These incidents have sparked serious discussions within the party.
Bandaru Shravan – Accusations of Misuse of Power
Singanamala, a reserved constituency, has also become a trouble spot for TDP. MLA Bandaru Shravan faces allegations from party workers and locals. A senior TDP worker named Prasad, who has been with the party for 35 years, accused Shravan of falsely implicating him in a rape case out of personal vendetta.
Prasad also claimed that when he requested a Field Assistant position, the MLA’s mother allegedly sold the post to someone else. This matter escalated to TDP state president Palla Srinivas Rao, leading to internal disputes.
Adding to the controversy, Shravan’s own party members accused him of being controlled by a ‘two-man committee’ within the constituency. Senior leaders Alam Narsannaidu and Munthi Madugu Keshav Reddy, appointed before the elections, are said to be exerting influence over the MLA’s decisions.
TDP Faces Growing Challenges
The internal unrest in these reserved constituencies has become a significant concern for TDP. Senior party leaders are now discussing how to handle the ongoing controversies involving their own MLAs. The party, already dealing with the challenges of alliance politics, is now struggling to contain its internal conflicts.
