The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has announced a protest titled ‘Chalo Tuni’ scheduled for February 18, aimed at opposing what they describe as undemocratic tactics employed by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) during the recent Municipal Vice Chairman elections. Former Minister Dadisetti Raja condemned the TDP’s actions, alleging that they used intimidation and violence against YSRCP councillors to manipulate the electoral process despite not holding a majority in the municipality.
Raja highlighted the severity of the situation, stating that TDP leaders resorted to threats and even physical attacks against YSRCP members, including himself, during the election. He called on YSRCP leaders and supporters to gather in large numbers at Tuni to protest against these injustices and to uphold democratic values.
He further accused Tuni Rural CI Chennakesava Rao of intimidating YSRCP councillors and urged intervention from local authorities to ensure a fair election process. Raja emphasized that the ruling alliance’s actions reflect ongoing anarchy in Andhra Pradesh, calling for immediate attention from the District Collector and Superintendent of Police to safeguard the electoral rights of YSRCP councillors.
