Andhra Pradesh, March 27 – Former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has come down hard on the coalition government, accusing it of failing to protect Hindu Dharma after the demolition of the Kasinayana temple. He claimed that religious sanctity has hit rock bottom under the current administration.
Taking to social media platform X, Jagan reminded people of his government’s efforts to safeguard the temple. He pointed out that even though the Centre had ordered a halt to construction at Kasinayana Kshetra on August 7, 2023, it was his administration that stepped in to ensure the temple was protected.
“As Chief Minister, I wrote to Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav on August 18, requesting an exemption for the 12.98-hectare land of Kasinayana Kshetra. We were ready to meet all conditions required to keep the temple safe,” he stated. Following his intervention, he said, the Centre backed off, and during his tenure, there were no further attempts to interfere with the temple.
Calls Out the Government for U-Turn
Jagan didn’t hold back in slamming the coalition government for reversing this progress within just six months of taking office. He alleged that the temple demolition happened with full government involvement, pointing fingers at the District Collector, the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO), and the Special Chief Secretary of the Environment and Forest Department. According to him, the orders came straight from Deputy Chief Minister and TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu.
Calling it a “barbaric attack” on Hindu Dharma, Jagan demanded answers from the government, saying he had solid proof to back his claims. “They issue orders, demolish temples with their own hands, and then try to cover it up with false narratives,” he lashed out.
More Allegations on Religious Mismanagement
Jagan didn’t stop there. He accused the government of mishandling religious matters, citing controversies like the Tirumala laddu propaganda and the Tirumala stampede.
Taking a direct shot at the Deputy Chief Minister, who also oversees the Forest Department, he asked, “A self-proclaimed protector of Sanatana Dharma hasn’t said a word about temples being demolished under his watch. Does he have any moral right to talk about Hindu Dharma?”
Jagan’s fiery remarks have set off a political storm in Andhra Pradesh, intensifying debates over the government’s role in protecting temples. The coalition government has yet to respond, but this controversy is bound to keep the political heat rising in the state.
